Simply Sweet

I decided to cut my teeth on a short story by a new reader to me, Courtney Milan. Miss Milan has many books out and after reading this fun little romp, she's now graced my TBR list on goodreads. Please follow me and let's share shelves!

A Right Honorable Gentleman     by:     Courtney Milan

BLURB:

Miss Catherine Hooks is one of the best governesses in all of England; her employer, the Right Honorable Edward Glennon, is one of the busiest men. The fact that they’ve fallen in love is immaterial. Honorable people in their situation do not mention such things. But Edward’s son is on the verge of leaving for school, and when Cat asks for the only thing she can demand under the circumstances—a reference and help finding a new position—she discovers that even a right honorable gentleman has his limits…

Note: A Right Honorable Gentleman is a short story of about 7,000 words, and it was previously published in the anthologyPremiere.

Lingerie:  Adore Me                                  Regency Phrase: Toad-eaten = Flattered and made up to

Dark Navy Blue and fits like a comfortable slip. In my world you can't go wrong with polka dots and this easy flowing slip is graced with them. Legs tucked under and a nice fire is called for with this week's lingerie pick and Courtney Milan's short story is just the thing. Adorning the bodice and the edge of the skirting is a measure of delightful lace. It's a wonderful cross between lingerie and lounge wear.

Lingerie by: AdoreMe

I am so excited about this month's book pairing. Soft as silk, rosebud pink lace, is like heaven on your skin, and the petal soft, sheer chiffon skirt is irresistible. Comfy enough to sleep in all night. And pretty enough not to. The color of this flouncy lingerie, reminds me of a certain something pink that our heroine Alethea Swinton wears in this week's boudoir read.

When I found out that this soon-to-be synonymous with romance author Liana De La Rosa was coming out with a book, I knew I needed a very special bottle of wine to celebrate. This white wine hails from our own backyard in Northern California and is ideal for all seasons. The abundant stone fruit and crisp, refreshing finish is the perfect compliment for any occasion.

A humble thank you to m2 wines for their generosity

Regency Phrase:
A Trifle Disguised = Slightly Drunk

Relaxing On the High Seas...

I've decided to dedicate September to Regency and who better to read than: McNaught and Lindsey? Then end the month with a brand new author: Liana De La Rosa, to usher in autumn.

September Boudoir Read

9/14  to  9/21

"Gentle Rogue"  by: Johanna Lindsey

Gentle Rogue is one of my favorites by Lindsey, and the 3rd book in the Malory family saga. And who couldn't resist the old time cover with Fabio. Oh my! Over the years the book covers have changed and entertained us, but the heart of these favorites live true long after you're finished reading. Enjoy!

Blurb:

Georgina Andersen boards the Maiden Anne disguised as a cabin boy, never dreaming she'll be serving at the whim of the captain, James Mallory.

The black sheep of a proud family, the handsome ex-pirate once swore no woman could entice him into matrimony. But on the high seas his resolve will be challenged by the high-spirited beauty whose love of freedom and adventure rivals his own.

Relaxation provided by: Bath and Body Works

This week's boudoir is dedicated to relaxation. Great memories are filled with aromas, scents that delight, and remind us where we've been and sometimes where we're going. Every cologne mentioned in my books are scents used from that era. Many colognes today come from fragrances of the past. And my hero in "Every Time You're Near" wears the extracts of bergamot and tangerine. Two of my favorites. Nineteenth century men and women often wore the same colognes. Musk was not considered masculine, nor tangerine and lavender necessarily feminine. And recipes were as much an industry secret back then as they are now.

Peruse these special delights from Bath and Body:  Ginger, Eucalyptus, Spearmint, Vanilla, tea, lavender, bergamot, orange

Regency Phrase:
Carte-blanche =  A woman under the protection of a man without being married to him. = Mistress
